Commerce Department Announces Preliminary Results of Steel Nails Dumping Review
Estimated reading time: 1–7 minutes
The U.S. Department of Commerce has released preliminary results regarding the review of antidumping duties on steel nails from the Sultanate of Oman. This examination covers the period from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. The main focus of this review was Oman Fasteners LLC, the only company from Oman selected for individual examination.
The Department has preliminarily found that Oman Fasteners did not sell steel nails in the United States at less than normal value during this period. This means Oman Fasteners has not engaged in dumping practices for the year reviewed.
Additionally, the Commerce Department expressed its intent to rescind the review for 15 other companies. This rescission is due to these companies having no reviewable entries of the subject merchandise during the period of review. These companies include Al Ansari Teqmark LLC, Al Sarah Building Materials LLC, and Gulf Nails Manufacturing, LLC, among others.
The Department is also responsible for setting a dumping margin, which indicates the amount by which the export price is lower than the normal value. For Oman Fasteners, this margin is preliminarily set at zero percent. For another company, Gulf Nails LLC, which was not individually reviewed, the margin is set at 9.10 percent. This rate is based on previous investigations.
Interested parties have the opportunity to comment on these preliminary results. Both case briefs and rebuttal briefs can be submitted within set deadlines following the publication of this notice. If necessary, these parties may also request a hearing to discuss their concerns.
The next steps involve the Department of Commerce disclosing its calculations to interested parties. The final results of the review will determine the assessment of duties and future deposit requirements for imports of the merchandise in question.
This review is significant as it influences the trade and pricing mechanisms for steel nails imported from Oman to the United States. It also affects the duties imposed and serves as a guide for future entries of steel nails merchandise.
