United States Imposes Sanctions on Four Costa Rican Nationals and Two Entities

On August 18, 2025, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took new sanctions actions. OFAC has added four individuals and two companies to its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN List). These actions are based on Executive Order 14059, “Imposing Sanctions on Foreign Persons Involved in the Global Illicit Drug Trade.” All property and interests in property in the United States, belonging to these persons and companies, are now blocked. U.S. persons may not do business with them.

These four individuals are designated for activities or transactions that have contributed, or pose a significant risk of contributing, to the international spread of illicit drugs or drug production tools.
