New Sanctions Announced by the U.S. Department of Treasury

Estimated reading time: 2–5 minutes

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced new sanctions. These sanctions are aimed at individuals and organizations linked to terrorism. OFAC has added them to a special list called the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN List).

When people or groups are on this list, anything they own in the United States is blocked. It also means that people in the United States are not allowed to do business with them.

OFAC made this decision on October 2, 2026. This information comes from the Federal Register on October 7, 2026.

New Additions to the SDN List

OFAC has explained that the following people and organizations are linked to terrorism:

Faouzi Barika: He lives in France but is originally from Algeria. OFAC says he acts for or helps Hamas, a terrorist group. OFAC blocked his properties and interests due to these links.

Amel Oualid: Also from Algeria but living in France, she has helped a person linked with Hamas too. Her ties to this person have led OFAC to take these actions.

Association Baraka: This is an organization in France that is linked to Faouzi Barika. It has been added to the list because of its ties to Faouzi Barika.

Ensemble C Mieux: This group is also based in France. It is linked to Amel Oualid. The group is a charity organization, but its connections led to it being included in the list.

All these entries were made under Executive Order 13224, which deals with those linked to terrorism. These orders are very strict in dealing with people and groups tied to terrorists.

People wanting more details about these decisions or the SDN List can visit the website of the Office of Foreign Assets Control here.

The Deputy Director of OFAC is Lisa M. Palluconi. She helps lead this office and their efforts against supporters of terrorism.

These steps show that the U.S. government is continuing to focus hard on cutting off support for terrorist activities globally.
