DEA Revokes Doctor’s Registration Following Loss of California Medical License
Estimated reading time: 3-5 minutes
On October 14, 2026, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) took decisive action against Dr. Youmna Abdulhadi, a medical practitioner from El Centro, California. The DEA has officially revoked Dr. Abdulhadi’s Certificate of Registration, identified as No. FA2682967. This decision follows an Order to Show Cause (OSC) issued on March 17, 2026, by the DEA, which highlighted concerns about Dr. Abdulhadi’s authority to handle controlled substances.
The DEA’s action stems from Dr. Abdulhadi currently lacking the legal authority to prescribe, administer, or dispense controlled substances in California. This was primarily due to the revocation of her medical license by the Medical Board of California on December 4, 2024. Without a valid medical license in the state, Dr. Abdulhadi no longer qualifies as a practitioner authorized to dispense controlled substances under state law.
According to the DEA’s procedures, Dr. Abdulhadi was notified of her right to request a hearing regarding her registration status. However, Dr. Abdulhadi did not file a request for a hearing, effectively defaulting on the OSC. This default means Dr. Abdulhadi waived her right to a hearing and has admitted to the DEA’s factual allegations.
The DEA Administrator, Terrance C. Cole, confirmed the revocation of Dr. Abdulhadi’s DEA registration based on her lack of state authorization to practice medicine. This revocation also impacts any pending applications from Dr. Abdulhadi to renew or modify her registration, as well as any new applications for registration in California.
The DEA’s authority to suspend or revoke a DEA registration is grounded in federal law, specifically 21 U.S.C. 824(a)(3). It permits the DEA to act if a practitioner’s state license is suspended or revoked, signifying the practitioner is no longer authorized by state law to handle controlled substances.
For administrative clarity, this document was electronically signed by Heather Achbach, the DEA Federal Register Liaison Officer, ensuring the document’s legal effect upon publication.
This effective date for the revocation is set for November 19, 2026, leaving Dr. Abdulhadi unable to engage in any DEA-regulated activities related to controlled substances in California.
